About this opportunity
The City of Boston is requesting bids for one new 10,000 lb minimum capacity fork truck for the Public Works Department under invitation for bids, with bids due September 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM and delivery by September 28, 2026. The City of Boston truck side-guard ordinance applies: vendors must install side guards, convex mirrors, cross-over mirrors, and blind-spot awareness decals on vehicles weighing over 10,000 lbs that work regularly within Boston (though one-time deliveries are exempt).
The fork truck must be new, latest production model, and delivered complete and ready to operate to Boston Central Fleet Management. Bidders must complete and upload a compliance document acknowledging 33 enumerated specification requirements; failure to do so results in rejection as non-responsive. Detailed manufacturer literature identifying each requirement by number and highlighted for ease of reference is required, along with written explanation for any non-compliant items. Bidders must specify delivery timeline in days from award date and be certified dealerships agreeing to pick up and deliver vehicles to the City for warranty work.
The warranty structure requires full, no-cost, 100% parts and labor coverage with pickup and delivery included for any warranty repairs or factory recalls, performed by a manufacturer's authorized representative. A three-year warranty on all allied equipment against faulty workmanship and materials is required. Bidders must provide requirements and labor/parts reimbursement rates for in-house warranty work and factory recalls performed by Boston Central Fleet Management certified technicians.
Bidders must submit the CM-16 Wage Theft Prevention Form and CM-06 Certificate of Authority (if applicable) with original signatures and comply with Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements, non-discrimination protections, CORI policy, and conflict of interest and human trafficking prohibitions. The contract term is one year. Award goes to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, subject to appropriated funds availability and Mayor approval. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
