About this opportunity
The City of South San Francisco is requesting proposals for special inspection services for Fire Station 63, a new two-story, 10,150-square-foot fire station with three-bay apparatus garage at 71 Camaritas Avenue, with proposals due October 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM PST.
The special inspection scope covers structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood construction, anchors and dowels in resin, expansion anchors, seismic resistance, fireproofing, and firestopping. The selected consultant must maintain sufficient certified inspectors and technicians available for scheduled, short-notice, and off-hours inspections and deliver comprehensive reporting including daily and weekly status reports, nonconformance tracking, and final verified reports. Labor rates must comply with prevailing-wage requirements and any applicable Project Labor Agreement.
Construction is anticipated to begin January or February 2027 and continue through October 2028, with project closeout through November 2028. The consultant will be required to enter into the City's Standard Professional Services Agreement and provide required insurance coverage.
Proposals must include a completed Rate and Fee Worksheet with a base not-to-exceed fee covering all project management, certified personnel, laboratory testing, reports, meetings, travel, equipment, taxes, overhead, and profit, plus identification of any additional charges such as minimum call-outs, overtime premiums, weekend or holiday charges, and mileage fees. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and negotiate scope and fees.
Evaluation criteria include demonstrated competence, professional qualifications, relevant experience, staffing availability, approach, responsiveness, and cost. Soils, earthwork, geotechnical inspection, electrical testing, commissioning, and building-envelope testing services are expressly excluded and will be procured separately.
