About this opportunity
The City of Wichita, Kansas, Public Works & Utilities Department/Building Services Division is requesting bids on fire sprinkler systems testing and modifications across 43 municipal facilities under RFB #260242, with bids due October 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CST. All work must comply with NFPA standards 20 and 25 and City of Wichita Code Section 15.01.080.
The scope encompasses routine and periodic testing, certification, and as-needed structural modifications to fire sprinkler systems at city facilities, libraries, fire stations, parking garages, airport buildings, and other municipal properties. Systems range from single wet configurations to multiple wet, dry, and pre-action setups, including fire pump testing at City Hall. Bidders must conduct site visits to all 43 locations prior to submission to verify equipment and requirements.
The contractor must hold NICET II certification and a Wichita business license. A Certificate of Insurance with a minimum $1 million per-occurrence limit naming the City as primary and non-contributory additional insured is required. All licensing, permits, tools, labor, and inspection fees are contractor-borne costs.
The initial contract term is one year with two optional one-year renewals. Award will be based on the lowest and best total net base bid with options selected. Pricing is structured as cost per day for lift equipment, hourly labor rates for normal business hours and after-hours service calls, hourly rates for weekend and holiday work, and a percentage markup on materials for repairs. The contractor must submit detailed deficiency reports and repair quotations for all identified issues and meet a 120-day completion deadline; liquidated damages are $100 per day for delays. Payment follows receipt of detailed invoices. Questions are due October 2, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. CST, with answers posted via addendum by October 6. Contract award is anticipated in October 2026.
