About this opportunity
Greenville County, on behalf of the Tigerville Fire Department, is requesting proposals for the design, permitting, installation, testing, and acceptance of a new automatic fire sprinkler system in an existing two-story fire station in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, with proposals due August 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-proposal meeting on July 24, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
The scope encompasses sprinkler protection for both floors, the apparatus bay, storage rooms, and all other areas required by applicable codes and the South Carolina State Fire Marshal. The contractor must obtain all required permits, coordinate with state and local code enforcement, and maintain station operational status during construction. Pricing shall be lump sum with detailed line-item breakdowns including materials, labor, and taxes; unit pricing must be provided for potential change orders and alternates such as additional sprinkler heads, concealed heads, pipe, and drywall patching. A minimum one-year warranty on materials and workmanship from final acceptance is required, along with a comprehensive closeout package including approved drawings, hydraulic calculations, as-built drawings, test certificates, training documentation, and operation manuals.
The contractor must submit a bid bond equal to 5% of the bid price, with performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price required within 15 working days of award. Required insurance includes comprehensive general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence with $2,000,000 aggregate, automobile liability of $1,000,000, and statutory worker's compensation coverage, with the Tigerville Fire Department named as an additional insured. Payment is structured on a net 30-day basis.
Proposals are evaluated equally across six criteria at 10 points each: responsiveness to the RFP, cost, references, experience with similar projects, proposed approach and scope of work, and schedule. The tentative award date is August 21, 2026, with contract negotiations occurring between August 21 and September 4, 2026. Notice to Proceed is expected September 4, 2026, with project completion required by July 1, 2027. Inquiries are due July 28, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
