About this opportunity
The City of High Point, North Carolina Water Resources Department is requesting bids on fire hydrants under ITB #03-081226, with sealed bids due August 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., and written questions due August 8, 2026 by 12:00 p.m.
The scope is unit-priced fire hydrants for the Water Mains Division on an as-needed basis. All hydrants must conform to ANSI/AWWA C 502 specifications as iron body, fully bronze mounted, dry barrel type units rated 150 psi working pressure. Three approved models are specified — Mueller Super Centurions A-421, Kennedy Guardian K-81A, or AVK 2780 — though equivalent products from other manufacturers will be considered if deviations are clearly identified. The estimated quantity is approximately 35 hydrants across seven bury depths (3.0 feet through 6.0 feet) and extension kits in 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-inch sizes at four units each.
The contract runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027, with options to renew for four additional one-year periods. Cost adjustments for renewal periods are permitted only if industry-wide increases occur, capped at the lesser of 3 percent per year or the annual All Urban Consumers Price Index (CPI-U). All pricing is firm for the initial period and quoted FOB Destination to 816 E. Green Drive, High Point, North Carolina, with all transportation charges prepaid and included in bid price. Sales tax is invoiced separately.
Award is made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on price, quality, reputation, performance capabilities, conformity with specifications, availability of service and parts, and delivery capabilities. Bidders must provide three business references, manufacturer specifications and descriptive literature, and demonstrate equipment within seven calendar days of notification at no cost to the City. Warranty coverage is one year minimum against defects in materials, workmanship, and performance, with on-site service available statewide. Bidders must comply with North Carolina E-Verify requirements, provide proof of non-collusion, and maintain commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000.
