About this opportunity

The City of Idaho Falls is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from pre-qualified general/prime contractors for the Elevated Water Tank Demolition project located within the Idaho Falls Power campus. The procurement is conducted pursuant to IC 67-2805 for public works construction, specifically targeting the demolition of a 0.5 million gallon (MG) steel eight-legged elevated tank approximately 185 feet tall. Key project deliverables include complete tank demolition, removal of associated features, hazardous waste disposal of lead-coated tank parts, and comprehensive surface restoration of pavement and finished surfaces disturbed during the project. Contractors must demonstrate specific experience with elevated tank demolitions, including projects involving tanks at least 100 feet tall, crane-assisted demolition, and work in urban or space-constrained environments. The SOQ submissions are due by 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with contractors required to submit three copies of their response in a sealed envelope. Evaluation criteria will focus on contractors' performance history, safety records, licensing, bonding capacity, and organizational capabilities. The project is expected to have a 6-week duration after the Notice to Proceed, with bid documents anticipated to be provided to qualified bidders in September 2025.

The contract opportunity does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Contractors must obtain the comprehensive Qualification Submittal Packet from the City of Idaho Falls website or the Public Works Department, located at 380 Constitution Way, Idaho Falls. While an Idaho Public Works Contractor's license is not required for qualification submission, successful bidders must hold a current license prior to the construction bid opening. The City reserves the right to reject any submissions that do not meet their standards of performance, reliability, and capability, and will notify applicants of their qualification status within 30 days of the submission deadline. The engineer's opinion of probable cost for the project is estimated between $200,000 and $500,000, providing potential bidders with a clear understanding of the project's financial scope. Questions related to the project can be directed to David Richards, Water Superintendent, via telephone at (208) 612-8472 or email at drichards@idahofalls.gov. No incumbent vendors or existing infrastructure integration requirements were specifically mentioned in the provided documentation.
