About this opportunity
Tewksbury Public Schools in Massachusetts is requesting bids for electrical services across all district facilities under a three-year contract commencing September 1, 2026, with bids due August 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Business Office, 139 Pleasant Street, Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The contract is subject to prevailing wage requirements under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 149.
Scope encompasses routine and emergency electrical services — power wiring, control wiring, sensor wiring, raceway, switchgear, circuit breakers, and related non-capital electrical equipment repairs, maintenance, and installation across all school facilities. Contractors must respond to emergency calls within one hour and arrive on-site within two hours; routine requests must begin within two business days.
Mandatory contractor qualifications are restrictive: Master Electrician license with a minimum of ten years of active engagement in electrical contracting within a twenty-five-mile radius of Tewksbury; direct employment of at least two full-time Massachusetts Journeymen Electricians; a minimum of two service trucks stocked with supplies; and twenty-four-hour, seven-day-per-week emergency response capability with live phone staffing. References must include at least three current Commonwealth of Massachusetts public school departments where the contractor served as primary electrical contractor for at least twelve consecutive months within the past two years.
Pricing is labor-hour and materials-based. The bid sheet requires hourly rates for Master or Journeyman Electricians and Apprentices across regular hours (Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), after-hours, weekends, and holidays for each contract year. Contractors must also specify a percentage markup on materials costs above a $10,000 baseline applied over the three-year term. The estimated annual contract value is less than $90,000 per year.
Workers' Compensation, General Liability ($1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate), and Automobile Liability ($1 million combined single limit) are mandatory, with the Town and Tewksbury Public Schools named as additional insureds. A 50% Labor and Materials Payment Bond may be required within fifteen days of award. Award is to the lowest responsible bidder by lowest hourly rates on the Bid Pricing Sheet.
