Scope of work: The scope of work for snow and ice removal under this contract shall include plowing, snow throwing, hand shoveling and all equipment, labor and other work necessary to clear snow and ice from all driveways, parking and paved areas, sidewalks, stairs, steps, platforms, walkways, fire exits, fire egress pathways and doors in the areas and specific sites designated on the bid forms and maps included in the bid. This shall also include the spreading of deicer (supplied by the Township) on all walking areas. The Township shall spread deicers on all driveways and parking areas during snowstorms. For icing conditions requiring marginal or no snow removal, the Public Works Department will spread deicer on all driveways, parking and other vehicular areas. The contractor will spread deicer on all walkways, stairs, steps, platforms, fire exits, fire egress pathways and exterior fire doors areas as well as remove ice accumulations from the same areas within the same timeframe as a snow event as found elsewhere within these specifications. During storms, particularly those of long duration, a contractor will be required to remain until released and may be required to return to a site(s) more than once to complete work. The total accumulation will determine the amount of payment regardless of the length of the storm or the number of times the contractor is required to return. The contractor shall be responsible for identifying and marking all areas to be cleaned prior to performing the work so as to minimize damage to adjacent grounds and facilities. The contractor shall remove any markers at the end of the season. The contractor shall be responsible for any damages caused as a result of his operations and shall repair it immediately upon discovery. The scope of work includes three (3) sections grouped geographically. Each section includes a variety of municipal facilities. Sites within each section have been prioritized and work shall proceed according to those priorities (as specified elsewhere within these specifications) and as may be modified according to instructions from the Director or his authorized representative. Snow conditions, time and day of snow event and other factors may modify the standard procedures to be followed.
