About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Transportation is soliciting bids on a district-wide on-call guardrail and fence repair contract (Contract No. 70J06) covering state-maintained routes in McLean, DeWitt, Piatt, Champaign, Douglas, Vermilion, and Edgar counties, with electronic bids due July 31, 2026 via the iCX-Integrated Contractors Exchange system.
The scope encompasses labor, equipment, and materials for complete repair or replacement of damaged guardrails, fences, impact attenuators, high tension cable barriers, and other highway appurtenances at locations specified through work orders issued by the Department. Work includes traffic control and minor concrete repairs; some nighttime operations are anticipated. The contractor must provide a designated representative to serve as key contact and monitor daily activities.
The contract runs through September 30, 2027, with the Department retaining the right to extend for an additional 12-month term (October 1, 2027, through September 30, 2028) under the same unit prices if both parties agree in writing. Performance timelines differentiate between regular work (25 calendar days from work order authorization) and emergency work (7 calendar days). Liquidated damages of $50.00 per day per work order apply for schedule overruns. Payment is made solely for actual quantities utilized and accepted; quantities in the specification represent estimates only. Traffic control costs, nighttime work zone lighting, and contractor responsibility for damaged structures are incorporated into unit bid prices with no separate compensation.
The contract is subject to Federal-aid requirements where applicable, Equal Employment Opportunity provisions, and state contract requirements. All work must comply with applicable highway appurtenance specifications and repair standards.
