About this opportunity

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is requesting bids for the District Services Complex Relocation project at Cuyamaca College, with bids due July 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Bidders must hold a valid California Class B General Building Contractor license and be prequalified to bid on the project — a gateway eligibility requirement. The District encourages Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation at a goal of at least 3% of the total contract dollar amount, though this is not a requirement.

The scope includes renovation of Cuyamaca Building A (three buildings) and two B Annex trailers to accommodate District Facilities, Risk Management, and Personnel Commissioning functions. Work encompasses new finishes, furniture, power connections, light fixtures, HVAC units, access controls, IT/AV upgrades, landscaping, exterior painting, and site work. This is non-DSA work. The project site is Cuyamaca College in San Diego County.

The estimated contract value is $7.3 million, with a contract duration of 155 consecutive calendar days and an estimated start date of August 17, 2026. Successful bidders must provide Performance and Payment Bonds each equal to 100% of the total bid amount, issued by a California-admitted surety. Bid security of 10% of the maximum bid amount is required in the form of cash, certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond. Liquidated damages are $2,500 per calendar day for delay beyond the contract completion date.

Bidders must comply with California Labor Code prevailing wage requirements, weekly certified payroll submission, and apprenticeship hiring as appropriate. All contractors and subcontractors must register with the Department of Industrial Relations. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting and job walk is scheduled for July 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Building A. Written questions are due July 16, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., with addenda due July 23, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. The Letter of Intent to Award is scheduled for August 3, 2026. Bid packages are submitted to the Grossmont College Purchasing and Contracts Office in El Cajon, California.
