About this opportunity
The Town of Brookhaven Department of Finance, Division of Purchasing is requesting bids on controlled demolition of residential structures and asbestos abatement services, with bids due September 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The procurement is structured in seven parts: demolition of structures containing non-friable asbestos, demolition of structures containing friable asbestos, demolition of structures with no asbestos, removal of associated construction materials, removal of trees and shrubbery, removal of associated structures and systems, and asbestos abatement and disposal services.
All bidders must hold current New York State Department of Labor Asbestos Licensing and Certification — a mandatory eligibility requirement — and must demonstrate three years of directly related demolition and asbestos-abatement experience. Prevailing wage compliance per NYS Department of Labor regulations is mandatory; bidders must submit NYS DOL registration certification with their bid or face immediate disqualification.
Pricing must be submitted as unit and lump-sum prices for each part, covering all labor, equipment, permits, disposal fees, backfilling, grading, and topsoil restoration. Demolition debris without asbestos must be disposed of at the Brookhaven Landfill with no tipping fees; friable asbestos must be delivered to an approved waste facility with proper manifest documentation. Services must commence within 48 hours of notification and be completed within one week after all approvals and permits are received.
The contract term is two years with three one-year renewal options. The Town reserves the right to award a single contract combining Parts I through VI to the lowest responsible/responsive bidder and a separate contract for Part VII (asbestos abatement and disposal) to another bidder. Written questions are due August 31, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Contact Amanda Boland or Christina Williams at the Town of Brookhaven Department of Finance.
