About this opportunity

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is requesting proposals for forest habitat improvement services at the Cherokee State Wildlife Area (Upper Unit) under RFP PMAA 2027_0001, with proposals due September 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM MDT and a mandatory pre-bid meeting on August 12, 2026 at 9:00 AM MDT at the project site in Larimer County. Resident bidders and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration may receive applicable preferences.

The scope covers forest habitat improvement on up to 332 acres of big game habitat through logging and mastication activities designed to restore healthy forest conditions, reduce wildfire severity risk, and improve wildlife habitat. Contractors must provide a detailed implementation plan emphasizing least disturbance to the treatment site, list all equipment, and submit a realistic work schedule. CPW will award a single contract with no guaranteed minimum acreage. Pricing must be submitted on a per-acre basis for the maximum 332 acres, with optional pricing for decking/staging and hauling/removal services that CPW may elect to accept or decline.

Project commencement is expected by October 12, 2026, with completion required no later than September 1, 2028. At minimum, 75% of acreage must be completed by June 30, 2027. A work closure period runs from September 2 through November 22, 2027. Payment is based on completed monthly acreage invoiced and approved by the Project Manager.

Contractors must maintain comprehensive insurance including workers' compensation with $1,000,000 each occurrence limits and must name the State as an additional insured. Proposals must be submitted via Colorado Vendor Self Service (VSS) or Google Forms. Registration for the pre-bid meeting is required by August 11, 2026. Written questions are due August 19, 2026, with answers posted by August 24, 2026. Anticipated notice of award is September 23, 2026. Proposals must remain firm and valid for 180 days following the submission deadline.
