About this opportunity

The Connecticut Air & Space Center is seeking bids for the Curtiss Hangar Renovations - Phase 1 project located in Stratford, Fairfield County. This Invitation to Bid (ITB) solicitation (No. 30829) is open to all vendors and focuses on comprehensive restoration and renovation of a historic hangar building that will become the future home of the Connecticut Air & Space Center Museum. The base bid work encompasses critical structural repairs, including installation of a new EPDM membrane roof system with insulation and flashings, masonry repairs and repointing of exterior walls, installation of plastic infill windows, and partial enclosure of the hangar door wall with new rolling doors. The bid period runs from June 17, 2025, at 4:30 PM EDT to July 08, 2025, at 2:00 PM EDT, with a vendor Q&A period scheduled from June 17, 2025, at 4:45 PM EDT to June 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM EDT. Bismark Construction Co. Inc., managed by Ron Rossomando Jr., is overseeing the contract, with delivery terms specified as Free On Board Destination.

The solicitation does not explicitly outline specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. No incumbent vendors or specific integration requirements are detailed in the available documentation. The procurement does not specify a precise budget range or total contract value, which suggests potential flexibility in vendor proposals. While the document indicates the project is for a museum renovation, no specific qualifications beyond standard construction capabilities are prominently mentioned. The project appears to be a straightforward restoration effort focused on preserving a historic hangar structure and preparing it for future museum use. Vendors interested in responding will need to demonstrate expertise in structural restoration, roofing systems, masonry repair, and historic building renovation. The lack of a stated estimated value leaves open the potential for competitive bidding across various contractor scales and capabilities.
