About this opportunity
The City of Glen Cove is requesting bids for carpentry services on an on-call basis across all City properties under ITB 2026-009, with bids due October 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and public bid opening at 11:00 a.m. the same day. Questions were due September 25, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. and are no longer accepted.
Bidders must have a minimum of five years of continuous carpentry experience and provide skilled repair, replacement, installation, adjustment, and general maintenance services including window and door work, interior wall and ceiling renovation, and general carpentry. The vendor must be equipped to respond to emergency repairs within two hours and commence non-emergency services within two work days. All work is performed on an as-needed basis upon written City authorization and purchase order issuance; the City does not guarantee minimum quantities of work or expenditures.
The contract term runs three years (January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2029) with one optional one-year renewal available at 2029 rates. Pricing is evaluated on a three-year basis using estimated mechanic hours, apprentice/helper hours, and material expenditures with an applicable material markup percentage. Materials must be billed using certified cost plus the contractor's bid markup percentage, with actual supplier invoices required for reimbursement. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on the lowest three-year evaluated bid.
Workers must be paid prevailing wages under New York State Labor Law Section 220, with certified payroll submissions required. Contractors must register with the New York State Department of Labor under Section 220-i before submitting bids. A $100 bid security deposit (10% of total bid) is required. Successful bidders must provide a $25,000 performance bond and commercial general liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, with the City named as additional insured. Subcontracting is prohibited without prior written City approval and cannot result in price increases.
