The scope requires furnishing and delivery of untreated rock salt and/or bulk rock salt pre-treated with liquid magnesium chloride. Untreated rock salt must comply with AASHTO M143, Type I, Grade 1 (or ASTM D632 equivalent). Estimated annual usage is approximately 125 tons of untreated rock salt and 350 tons of treated rock salt. Place of performance is Harper College's campus at 1200 Algonquin Road, Palatine, Illinois. The College reserves the right to award treated and untreated salt to different vendors.
Award will be made to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder based on pricing and compliance with all specifications. The successful bidder must supply up to 130% of estimated tonnage at the same unit price and deliver all orders within 72 hours of request in clean, covered trucks. Liquidated damages of $200 per day apply for missed delivery schedules. Pricing shall be net and F.O.B. delivered. Required insurance includes general liability with $2,000,000 general aggregate and $1,000,000 per occurrence, plus automobile and workers' compensation coverage.
Questions are due August 17, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. Bidders must submit product data sheets, AASHTO M143 or ASTM D632 compliance documentation, and technical data identifying all additives and concentrations.
