About this opportunity

Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation, Inc. (RDRC) is soliciting proposals from qualified architectural firms to provide design and construction services for the renovation and adaptive reuse of the historic O'Kane Building at 21-17 Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, Queens, with proposals due August 28, 2026. Strong consideration will be given to New York State-certified M/WBE, DBE, and SDVOB firms, reflecting a 100% MWBE contracting goal for the project.

The scope spans comprehensive architectural services throughout the full design and construction process: pre-design analysis, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding support, and construction administration. The five-story, approximately 10,000-square-foot structure will be transformed into the Rockaway Music, Arts & Cultural Center (RMACC), a community-serving cultural hub featuring performance space, youth programming areas, and administrative offices. Respondents must demonstrate relevant experience with commercial, mixed-use, community, cultural, or adaptive reuse projects in New York City and coordinate code compliance, structural and MEP requirements, cost estimating, scheduling, and permitting considerations.

Questions may be directed to info@rdrc.org. Interested respondents should request existing architectural plans and detailed project description by contacting kalexander@rdrc.org. Electronic submissions, including all supporting documentation, must be sent to kalexander@rdrc.org with the subject line "RMACC BID" by 5:00 p.m. on August 28, 2026.
