About this opportunity
The City of Boston Procurement Department is requesting bids on the furnish, delivery, and installation of three outboard boat engines for the Boston Police Department under RFB item 479453, with bids due October 14, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. EDT and delivery due October 19, 2026.
The scope calls for three Mercury V350 series 350HP V10 outboard engines with 3-year commercial unlimited-hour warranties to replace existing 400HP engines on a 38-foot vessel currently located in Winthrop, Massachusetts. Installation includes removal of existing engines, transportation of the vessel via hydraulic trailer, replacement of fuel lines with USCG A1-15 compliant materials, replacement of fuel sending units and battery cables, replacement of fuel/water separators and filters, hydraulic steering system upgrades, propeller installation and tuning, and completion of factory break-in and 20-hour service procedures per SAFE Boat International and Mercury specifications. All work must incorporate specified Mercury OEM parts and harnesses. Bidders must specify the number of days required from purchase-order receipt to complete delivery and installation; delivery timeline is an important factor in award consideration.
The City will award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Contract term is one year and is subject to availability of appropriation. Bid submissions must include detailed equipment specifications and a completed mandatory compliance document under penalty of disqualification. All responses must include a completed Wage Theft Prevention Form CM-16 and comply with City of Boston Standard Contract General Conditions, including non-collusion affidavits, debarment certifications, and applicable wage and labor laws. The City is exempt from federal excise taxes and Massachusetts sales and use tax.
Questions should be directed to Chris Radcliffe at 617-635-3422 or Christopher.Radcliffe@boston.gov.
