The Town of Atherton, California is soliciting sealed bids for the 2026 Spring Patching and Street Overlay Project (Project No. 56170), with bids due June 25, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Bidders must hold a current California Class "A" General Engineering or "C-12" Earthwork and Paving contractor's license and be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations — mandatory gatekeepers. Prevailing wage requirements apply under California Labor Code. The scope includes grinding and replacing approximately 32,000 square feet of asphalt to six-inch depth on various streets; grinding and replacing approximately 90,000 square feet of asphalt to two-inch depth with identification and repair of pavement failures and crack sealing; constructing two raised crosswalks along Selby Lane with thermoplastic white fog lines; and installing traffic striping and pavement markings. Hand work around utility manhole covers is required. All work must follow Town of Atherton Standard Specifications. The general contractor must perform work valued at not less than 50% of total contract value, excluding specialty items. The engineer's estimate is $735,000. Work must be completed within 45 working days from the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages of $1,000 per working day apply for each day beyond the deadline. A bid guaranty equal to at least 10% of the bid amount is required. Performance and payment bonds, each equal to 100% of contract price, must be executed by a California-admitted surety rated A+, Class VII or better. Contractors must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of at least $2 million per occurrence, auto liability of at least $2 million per accident, workers' compensation at statutory limits with employer's liability of at least $1 million, and contractors' pollution liability of at least $2 million per claim, with the Town named as additional insured. Questions must be submitted in writing to Robert Ovadia, P.E., Town Engineer, no later than eight business days before bid opening. Contract award will be made within 60 calendar days after bid opening to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
