About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Medical Command, through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), seeks clinical translational research studies that advance promising preclinical and clinical findings toward practical application for the diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Eligible applicants include extramural and intramural U.S. Department of War organizations, as well as foreign and domestic for-profit and nonprofit entities registered with SAM.gov. The funding mechanism supports multidisciplinary collaborations and allows for multiple Principal Investigators, with only the initiating PI submitting a pre-application while all PIs must submit full applications. Applications will be evaluated through a two-tier review process assessing clinical translational potential (most important criterion), impact, research strategy and feasibility, rationale, personnel qualifications, partnership quality, budget appropriateness, and institutional environment. Critical deadlines include a pre-application deadline of July 23, 2026, a full application deadline of August 6, 2026, peer review scheduled for November 2026, and programmatic review for February 2027, with awards anticipated by September 30, 2027.
The CDMRP expects to allot approximately $3.5 million to fund approximately two Clinical Translational Research Award applications, with total cost caps of $1.60 million for single PI applications and $1.90 million for partnering PI applications. The maximum period of performance is three years, with FY26 funds expiring for use on September 30, 2032. Research may be conducted at eligible extramural and intramural organizations domestically and internationally, though projects must include clinical components and may not consist solely of animal research without clinical application.
Synopsis
Summary: The fiscal year 2026 (FY26) Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Research Program (TSCRP) Clinical Translational Research Award (CTRA) supports studies that will move promising, well-founded preclinical and/or clinical research findings closer to clinical application, including diagnosis, prognosis or treatment of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC).
Distinctive Features: This funding mechanism allows for multiple Principal Investigators (PIs). Only the initiating PI will submit a pre-application, but all PIs will need to submit full applications. The partnering PI(s) application is an abbreviated package specific to their distinct portion of the research project. Be advised, all associated applications for a research project may be withdrawn if the initiating or partnering application is rejected or administratively withdrawn.
