About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Medical Command is soliciting applications for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program Focused Pilot Award, a grant mechanism supporting investigator-initiated research in pancreatic cancer supportive care, quality of life, and survivorship, with a letter of intent due September 16, 2026, and full applications due October 7, 2026.

Eligible applicants include extramural and intramural U.S. Department of War organizations, foreign and domestic entities, and for-profit and nonprofit organizations without restriction. Investigators at any career level, including postdoctoral and clinical fellows, may serve as Principal Investigators.

The program expects to award approximately $1.2 million total, funding roughly four awards with a cost cap of $0.3 million per award and a maximum performance period of two years. No cost share is required.

Applications may support clinical research studies but cannot support clinical trials or preclinical animal studies. Preliminary data is allowed but not required. Direct costs must exclude tuition and clinical trial or preclinical animal study costs; permissible expenses include travel in support of collaborations, one annual scientific meeting attendance per investigator, and research subject compensation.

Evaluation criteria comprise research strategy and feasibility, innovation, and impact. Peer review is scheduled for December 2026, with programmatic review in January 2027. Awards will be made no later than September 30, 2027, with FY26 funds expiring September 30, 2032.

This opportunity falls under the Military Medical Research and Development program (CFDA 12.420) administered by the Defense Health Agency. Full applications are submitted through Grants.gov (extramural organizations) or eBRAP (intramural organizations) following pre-application screening.
