About this opportunity

The Health Resources and Services Administration is forecasting applications for the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Capacity Program, which strengthens state, jurisdiction, and Tribal capacity to implement, expand, and sustain evidence-informed maternal safety bundles across the United States; no hard application deadline is specified in this forecast notice.

Eligible applicants are unrestricted and include any domestic public or private entity, including domestic faith-based and community-based organizations, tribes, and tribal organizations. Applicants must be capable of carrying out data-driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiatives in obstetrics and gynecology or maternal health.

Competitive awards are structured for up to two to five years, subject to fund availability. After initial awards, annual noncompetitive renewal awards may be made contingent upon submission of progress reports, fund availability, and a federal determination that continued funding serves the government's interest. Final funding decisions are rendered four to six months after application receipt.

The AIM Capacity program supports state-level implementation of AIM Patient Safety Bundles—evidence-based practices designed to reduce preventable maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity during and immediately after childbirth. Funded activities strengthen capacity to implement, expand, and sustain these bundles and associated resources.

All qualified applications are forwarded to an objective review committee. The HRSA program official with delegated authority makes final selection and funding decisions and issues a Notice of Award. Evaluation criteria vary by specific grant or cooperative agreement program and are detailed in the notice of funding opportunity.

The program operates under CFDA 93.688 (Innovation for Maternal Health). Grantees must maintain accounting records for three years after submitting the Federal Financial Report; entities expending $1 million or more in federal awards annually are subject to single or program-specific audit under 2 CFR 200, Subpart F.

Forecast synopsis

The purpose of the AIM Capacity program is to strengthen state, jurisdiction, and Tribal capacity to implement, expand, and sustain AIM PSBs and associated resources across the United States. AIM PSBs promote evidence-informed maternal safety practices to improve the quality and safety of maternity care and reduce preventable maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity.

Eligibility

Applicants can apply if you are capable of carrying out data-driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiatives in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology or maternal health.
