About this forecast
The Transportation Security Administration (ACQ04 Security Technology Acquisition Division) is procuring new explosives trace detection desktop systems for deployment throughout the United States and its territories, with solicitation release estimated for July 13, 2027, and award targeted for September 30, 2027. ETD systems screen passengers, checked baggage, and carry-on baggage for trace amounts of explosive and chemical compounds. The requirement will compete among vendors on the ETD Qualified Products List contingent on FY27 funding availability, and the contract vehicle is a firm fixed-price definitive contract.
The estimated award value ranges from $5 million to $10 million for a five-year performance period from September 30, 2027, through September 29, 2032. Performance occurs at TSA facilities throughout the United States and its territories. Requirements inquiries should be directed to Marilyn Gray at marilyn.gray@tsa.dhs.gov or (571) 373-2610.
Forecast text
ETD systems are desktop devices that are used by the TSA throughout the United States (U.S.) and its territories to detect and distinguish trace amounts of explosive and chemical compounds. ETD systems are used by Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to screen passengers, checked baggage, and carry-on baggage.
Should funding be made available in FY27, TSA intends to procure systems by competing the requirement among the vendors on the ETD Qualified Products List (QPL).
