Forecast text

DEA provides the required funds to support State agencies participating in the Authorized Central Storage (ACS) Program. These funds cover the cost for storage HazMin Buildings, enclosed trailers, training, supplies, and equipment. The ACS program offers a solution to the difficulty and cost of managing and disposing of hazardous waste found, seized, and removed from Illicit Hazardous Environments (IHE). Law enforcement officers characterize, segregate, package, and transport such hazardous waste from IHE sites to various state-authorized HazMin Building (collection stations), which are strategically located throughout the individual states. The consumable supplies and equipment are used by law enforcement to properly identify, characterize, package, and label all waste streams removed from an IHE site, not to mention the personnel protective equipment (PPE) used by law enforcement to safely handle and investigate the IHE site.
