About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Johnson Space Center published a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice to award a sole-source purchase order to Sanmina Corporation for one assembled Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover Camera Control Unit for $114,000. The justification provides rationale for the sole-source award as Sanmina Corporation produced and tested the identical flight unit Camera Control Units under a previous contract and is the only source capable of delivering an additional unit by November 2023 to reduce mission risk and support testing for the VIPER program mission launching in November 2024.

Notice text

One (1) assembled flight Camera Control Unit (CCU).  The CCU is an electronic interface equipment that enables the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) rover avionics to communicate with the VIPER Visible Imaging System (VIS) at a higher level than would be possible if there was a direct connection between rover avionics and VIS cameras. The CCU allows a reduction in cabling between rover avionics and the VIS. The VIPER CCU must be manufactured to the same specifications as VIPER’s current flight unit CCUs.
