About this opportunity

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is seeking qualified manufacturers to produce prefabricated, compact buildings for deployment across the contiguous United States. These modular structures are intended to serve as small postal facilities, adaptable for temporary, emergency, long-term, or permanent use. The RFI requires manufacturers capable of producing quality buildings in a factory setting with specific design features including HVAC systems, satellite capabilities, handicap accessibility, plumbing, electrical power, LED lighting, and postal-specific equipment like rotary cabinets and parcel lockers. The RFI was released on May 19, 2025, with responses due by 4:00 PM Eastern time on June 13, 2025. Interested suppliers must submit a capabilities statement via email to Angela Johnson and Erik Speelmans, with the subject line "USPS Compact Building RFI", demonstrating their ability to meet the outlined requirements.

The procurement is classified under NAICS category 332311 for Prefabricated Metal Building and Component Manufacturing, with a PSC category of 5410 for Prefabricated and Portable Buildings. This is not a set-aside contract, and no specific award value or budget range is currently disclosed. The RFI is explicitly a market research tool to promote competition, with the goal of identifying minimally qualified manufacturers who may be invited to participate in a subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) event. The USPS emphasizes that this notice does not constitute a commitment to procure services and that no compensation will be provided for response submissions. Manufacturers will be responsible for designing building connections to foundations and providing necessary fasteners, while site preparation and unit installation will be handled by separate USPS contractors.
