About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) Norfolk has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award an order for two propeller shaft stern tube bearings and one intermediate strut bearing from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), specifically Duramax Marine. The notice is designed to inform potential suppliers about the government's procurement plans for the CGC LEGARE vessel's propulsion system components. Published on April 10, 2025, the Special Notice seeks to identify companies capable of supplying or demonstrating equivalent parts to the specified Duramax Marine bearings. The opportunity is not a formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) but rather an informational notice to explore potential supply capabilities in the market.

Interested contractors are invited to respond in writing by 10 AM on April 12, 2025, with comprehensive details about their company's ability to meet the supply requirements. Respondents must provide specific information including company name, CAGE code, UEI number, business size, NAICS code, point of contact, and documentation proving parts equivalence to Duramax Marine specifications. The Coast Guard emphasizes that no pricing information should be submitted and that oral submissions are not acceptable. Contractors must email their responses to Jacqueline Handley at jacqueline.d.handley@uscg.mil with the subject heading "Stern Tube Bearings Legare". The government reserves the right to ask follow-up clarifying questions and will handle any proprietary information submitted with appropriate confidentiality. While the notice does not guarantee a contract award, it provides an opportunity for companies to demonstrate their capabilities and potentially influence the government's procurement process.
