About this opportunity
The Library of Congress has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking market research for a specialized book cradle system to support digitization of collection materials. The Library requires a book cradle capable of supporting books opened to 180 degrees measuring at minimum 24x32 inches, with adjustable plate distances to accommodate various book sizes and the ability to hold materials completely flat during image capture with glass. The system must be compatible with Digital Transitions "Auto-Column" or Cambo RPS columns without requiring additional customizations and include height adjustment capabilities for books of varying thickness. The Library is seeking capability statements, rough pricing estimates, and feedback on the draft Statement of Work from potential vendors. The RFI response deadline is July 11, 2025, and interested parties are encouraged to submit questions and provide market feedback to inform future acquisition decisions.
This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified vendors. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the documentation. The Library has not disclosed specific budget ranges or award values, requesting only rough order of magnitude pricing estimates for market research purposes. The RFI emphasizes that this is voluntary market research only, with no guarantee of future business opportunities and no contract awards resulting from this notice. Vendors are specifically asked about their willingness to provide no-cost demonstrations at the Library of Congress and their experience serving federal agencies and cultural heritage institutions. The contractor requirements include providing manufacturer warranties for a base year plus three additional years, factory-authorized installation and repair services, and support including on-site repairs within 72 hours of notification.
