About this opportunity

The Federal Emergency Management Agency seeks to recycle or dispose of approximately 41 million gowns currently in storage through solicitation number 70FA4023Q00000002. FEMA acquired the gowns to support medical professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic but now seeks contractors to remove the gowns from storage facilities in Springfield, Virginia and Manteca, California as pandemic cases decline. Contractors must be able to receive a minimum of 10 truckloads per day from each location and will be evaluated based on past performance and ability to meet receipt quantities. Questions are due by November 29th and proposals are due by December 13th.

This requirement has been set aside for small businesses. The gowns are packaged in boxes on pallets of unknown dimensions and weight totaling around 41 million units. The period of performance is one base year from January 9, 2023 to January 8, 2024 with all work to be performed at the two FEMA storage locations. NAICS code 562910 applies for waste collection services, while PSC code S206 covers general household and commercial solid waste collection services. The budget is unspecified but likely in the millions based on the scope.
