About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure a Receiver Transmit component (NSN 7R-5845-016590089-CB) classified under Underwater Sound Equipment. This is a flight-critical part that requires Government source approval prior to contract award due to the specialized engineering skills, unique design capability, and manufacturing knowledge required to maintain part quality. Only previously Government-approved sources have been solicited for this opportunity. Prospective contractors who are not already approved sources must submit source approval information detailed in the applicable NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support brochures along with their proposal, demonstrating their technical qualifications and experience in producing the same or similar items. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 21, 2026, with a response deadline of May 6, 2026. No formal evaluation criteria are specified in this notice, as the focus is on source qualification rather than competitive evaluation.

This procurement involves no set-aside designations and concerns the acquisition of four units with delivery FOB Origin. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice. The notice does not identify any potential incumbents or current contractors by name. Given the Government's emphasis on source approval and the time required for qualifying new suppliers, the acquisition timeline appears constrained, with approval of new sources typically not feasible within the contract award schedule. Interested parties should note that the technical data currently available may be insufficient to support full and open competition, which is why this procurement is limited to previously approved sources.
