About this opportunity
The Department of State issued a Notice of Intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to Federal Communications Consulting for Kenwood handheld radios for the U.S. Consulate General in Merida, Mexico, with a seven-calendar-day capability statement deadline following the June 30, 2026 publication date. The Government reserves the right to compete the requirement at its discretion.
The radios will serve Facility Management, Data and Telephone Operations, and General Services Office personnel at the consulate compound for staff communication, coordination, and maintenance within the facility. The radios also provide backup communication for the Data and Telephone Operations team when OpenNet and WiFi systems are unavailable. The specific Kenwood radio models, antennas, and chargers have been designated by the Radio Programs Branch and approved by Data and Telephone Operations for use on the Department of State radio network.
The sole-source justification rests on the requirement to ensure compatibility with existing fielded radio systems at all DOS posts and to maintain Department-specific firmware, interconnection wiring pinouts, and required option licenses. Federal Communications Consulting demonstrated acceptable past performance, provided all requested information, offered reasonable pricing, and complied promptly with Department requirements. The Contracting Officer determined the anticipated cost fair and reasonable.
Interested parties may submit capability statements to meridaprocurement@state.gov. All submissions become Government property and will not be returned; the Government will not reimburse submission costs. Place of performance is the consulate compound in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.
