About this opportunity
The Department of Commerce (DOC) Office of the Secretary, Office of Acquisition Management (OAM) has issued a Special Notice regarding its intent to secure booth rental for the 2025 NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo. The notice indicates a sole source award approach under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1), which means the contract will be awarded without full and open competition. Specifically, the DOC plans to issue a 12-month base contract to purchase two booths at the conference. The agency has determined that the procurement requires items unique to a specific provider and that no alternative services will meet their requirements. This Special Notice serves primarily as an informational announcement and is not a competitive solicitation.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform potential vendors about the DOC's intended procurement method for conference booth rental. The notice specifies that no competitive quotations will be solicited, and a formal solicitation will not be available for this requirement. Contractors should note the critical deadlines: the notice was posted on December 18, 2024, with a response window closing on December 20, 2024. Any information submitted within seven days of the posting date may be considered by the government. The procurement falls under NAICS category 813920 for Professional Organizations, which provides context for the type of contract. While the notice does not explicitly outline contractor eligibility, the sole source approach suggests that a specific vendor has been identified as the sole provider meeting the DOC's unique conference booth requirements.
