About this opportunity
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a Special Notice regarding an intended sole source procurement for a Nothic software license annual renewal for a forensic tool. The notice specifically targets Octasic US Unc, located in Melbourne, Florida, as the potential vendor for this acquisition. Published on May 22, 2025, the opportunity is classified under NAICS Code 334290 and will be conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures outlined in FAR Part 13. The procurement is for a firm-fixed price purchase order, with the government reserving the right to determine competitive requirements based on potential vendor responses. The notice emphasizes that while this is not a competitive solicitation, vendors who believe they can meet the government's requirements may submit a capability statement.
Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit their capability statements electronically to Sonya.L.Maxwell@dea.gov by May 27, 2025, at 10:00am Eastern Time. The DEA will evaluate any submitted capability statements and retain sole discretion in determining whether to open the requirement to broader competition. Potential vendors should note that this is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), and no formal RFQ will be issued. The government has attached a justification for the sole source procurement in accordance with FAR 6.3021(c), indicating a specific rationale for targeting Octasic US Unc. Eligible vendors must carefully review the notice's requirements and understand that submission of a capability statement does not guarantee consideration or award. The primary objective appears to be securing an annual renewal of a specialized forensic software tool critical to the DEA's operational needs.
