About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Secretary of the Navy Office of Naval Research published a Special Notice seeking proposals for the Next Generation Naval Mining program. The Special Notice requests technologies supporting maritime sensing, encapsulation, and mine warfare planning with the goal of improving limited inventory for surface and subsurface mine delivery from manned and unmanned vehicles.

The Special Notice seeks to advance mining technology development by utilizing existing mine housing configurations, novel payloads with enhanced lethality, and streamlined delivery and implementation methods. Interested offerors were encouraged to attend a classified industry day on March 13th and must submit white papers by April 16th and full proposals by June 12th to be eligible for funding. ONR plans to award five cooperative agreements of $1.5 to $7.5 million per year for three to five years starting October 4th to improve naval mining capabilities in areas such as sensing, encapsulation, and mine warfare planning.
