About this opportunity

The Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection published a Special Notice regarding technical services for medium unmanned aircraft systems. The notice intends to award a sole source contract to Insitu, Inc. to provide program management, field support, sustainment services, and travel to operate CBP's government-owned ScanEagle and Blackjack systems between April and September 2023 in Ceiba, Puerto Rico and Van Horn, Texas.

The Special Notice seeks technical assistance and support services to maintain operational status and update software for CBP's medium unmanned aircraft systems, which are Insitu brand systems. Contractors were notified of the sole source intent and given until March 10, 2023 to submit capability statements for consideration if they believed they could meet requirements, though the notice indicated services require expertise supporting these specific unmanned aircraft brands. The anticipated contract period is from April 1, 2023 through September 30, 2023 and would provide aircraft maintenance, training, spare parts, and equipment to operate CBP's ScanEagle and Blackjack systems at the two locations.
