About this opportunity
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center (NASA/NSSC) has issued a Special Notice for a sole source contract with Mississippi State University focusing on GPGPU Acceleration of Loci Software Framework. The contract will be located at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and involves developing computational capabilities for scientific computing. NASA intends to issue this contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), having determined that Mississippi State University is the sole provider for this specific technological development. The procurement will utilize commercial items and services according to FAR Part 12 and Part 13 guidelines. The contract falls under NAICS code 611310 for Colleges, Universities, and Professional Schools.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing by 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on May 21, 2025, to be evaluated for potential competitive procurement. The primary objective of this contract is to enhance the Loci framework's computational performance by integrating GPU-enabled linear solver technologies, specifically focusing on improving computational fluid dynamics tools. Contractors should note that oral communications are not acceptable, and the government retains sole discretion in determining whether to proceed with full and open competition. The project involves three key tasks: developing a GPU-accelerated PETSc library interface, fine-tuning solver performance, and exploring optimizations for emerging computing architectures. Potential participants can contact Cody Guidry (Procurement Specialist) or Shari Trigg (Contracting Officer) for additional information, with the NASA Clause 1852.215-84 Ombudsman policy applicable to this acquisition.
