About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center published a Special Notice for a sole source contract to the Smithsonian Institution for the DSCOVR Faraday Cup Instrument. The Special Notice intends to award a contract to the Smithsonian Institution under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), as it was determined the Smithsonian Institution is the sole provider that can meet NASA's requirements.

The Special Notice seeks to acquire technical support services from the Smithsonian Institution for instrument operations, calibrations, ground data processing, and algorithm documentation for the DSCOVR Faraday Cup solar wind detector. Interested parties were required to submit capabilities and qualifications by February 15, 2024 if they sought to have the procurement conducted on a competitive basis. However, the determination to compete the effort was solely at the government's discretion. The performance location is NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and the contract would be for one base year with options to extend additional years in support of NASA and NOAA space weather research efforts.
