About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation) is conducting a market research request for a shimmy damper with specific part numbers (3-43902-7 / 1397L000-509 / 5078L000-2), identified by NSN 1620-00-117-7326. The agency is seeking to determine if alternative sources can satisfy their requirements for these aircraft landing gear components, with the primary objectives of improving small business access to acquisition information and enhancing competition. The solicitation (SPRHA1-25-R-0426) is issued under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), indicating the supplies may be available from limited responsible sources. Interested parties must submit their capability statements, proposals, or quotations by March 14, 2025, with the contracting point of contact being Johnny Wakefield. The government is not planning to use commercial item acquisition policies and has specified that foreign participation is not permitted at the prime contractor level.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates the requirement is not set aside for small businesses, with an estimated quantity of 66 units and a projected delivery schedule of 10 months after receipt of order. The procurement falls under NAICS code 336413 for Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing, with a product service code of 1620 for Aircraft Landing Gear Components. While no specific award value is mentioned, the solicitation suggests a focused procurement for the United States Air Force (USAF), specifically for destination SW3210. The contract period duration remains to be determined, and the solicitation will remain in the archive until March 14, 2026. Prospective offerors are advised that the acquisition is subject to Free Trade Agreements, which may impact the competitive landscape for potential contractors.
