We have used this serum in our current study since the beginning, and due to our protocols, we must maintain consistency and continuity though out the entire study. Since all FBS doesn't support growth of given cells in the same way and work in all systems. We have previously tested specific brands and lot numbers of serum to determine if they will support our specific cells and culture systems. The fetal bovine serum that is being requested is required as it has been tested with our cell lines, primary cells and culture systems to provide sufficient nutrients to support growth. We have determined that this specific FBS works in our culture systems to support cell and virus growth. Other FBS lots and different vendors serum did not support as cell growth that is required to perform our scientific studies and would cause the progress of our current study to be invalid, due the continuity requirements of the protocols.
