About this opportunity
The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center - Contracting & Procurement Division is conducting market research for comprehensive dockside repairs of the USCGC BERTHOLF (WMSL 752) during fiscal year 2026. The procurement seeks contractors capable of providing all necessary labor, materials, services, equipment, and facilities to perform extensive maintenance and repair work at the vessel's homeport in Alameda, California. The scope includes 16 primary work items covering critical systems such as folding boom crane maintenance, HVAC system modifications, sewage system cleaning and renewal, deck preservation, fire prevention services, and various equipment grooming operations. Contractors must possess capabilities under NAICS Code 336611 (Ship Building and Repairing) and demonstrate experience with complex naval vessel maintenance. Interested parties are invited to submit information demonstrating their capabilities, with responses due by October 30, 2025, and the anticipated contract performance period running from April 21, 2026 through June 12, 2026.
This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. The procurement includes three optional work items covering composite labor rates, Government Furnished Property reporting, and travel/per diem expenses. The contract performance period spans approximately 8 weeks, during which contractors will execute comprehensive maintenance across multiple ship systems including mechanical, electrical, and structural components. The work encompasses both routine maintenance activities and specialized repairs such as crack repairs in gas turbine collector and exhaust systems, polymeric deck covering renewal, and sewage holding tank preservation. While specific contract values are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the extensive scope of work across 16 primary work items suggests a substantial maintenance contract for this Legend-class National Security Cutter.
