About this opportunity

The U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) is hosting an in-person Battery Forum on July 30, 2026, in Troy, Michigan, to discuss challenges in adopting commercial-off-the-shelf battery systems into military platforms and to enable direct dialogue between industry and GVSC leadership. Registration closes July 17, 2026, or when capacity is reached; attendance is free and open to small and large businesses, institutions of higher learning, and governmental institutions interested in collaborating with GVSC.

GVSC partnered with CALSTART to conduct an independent market survey identifying adoption barriers for COTS battery systems in defense applications. The forum will present survey findings, share results and lessons learned from the JumpStart for Advanced Battery Standardization (JABS) program, discuss Navy safety testing conducted during JABS efforts, and cover GVSC initiatives to improve overall battery safety. The event provides a venue for industry to share perspectives with GVSC subject matter experts and for GVSC to respond to industry questions, challenges, and concerns, gathering critical feedback to inform future iterations of ground vehicle systems and architectures.

Online registration occurs at https://gvsc.devcom.army.mil/events/ between June 22 and July 17, 2026. The government will not reimburse travel or provide attendance confirmation receipts. This event is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation or government commitment. Participants should direct questions to alycia.m.stockdale@ctr@army.mil with subject line "GVSC BATTERY FORUM."
