About this file

This document is an announcement for an informational forum hosted by the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC).

The Battery Forum: Accelerating the Adoption of Commercial Battery Technologies in Defense Platforms will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Automation Alley in Troy, Michigan, with check-in beginning at 9:00 a.m. and presentations running from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is in-person only and free to attend. GVSC partnered with CALSTART to conduct an independent market survey identifying challenges that slow the adoption of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) battery systems into military platforms, and this forum will discuss those findings. The event will also cover the JumpStart for Advanced Battery Standardization (JABS) program, Navy safety testing conducted during JABS efforts, and GVSC's battery safety improvement initiatives. The forum is designed to facilitate direct dialogue between industry representatives and GVSC subject matter experts and leadership, enabling GVSC to gather critical feedback and respond to industry questions and concerns.

Online registration opens June 22, 2026, and closes July 17, 2026, or when capacity is reached, with no exceptions to the deadline. Attendees must be U.S. citizens and may include representatives from small and large businesses, institutions of higher learning, and governmental institutions interested in collaborating with GVSC. The government will not reimburse attendees for costs or provide attendance confirmation receipts. This event is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals or a commitment by the government. Information submitted in connection with participation is subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Questions should be directed to the GVSC Events Lead at alycia.m.stockdale@ctr@army.mil with the subject line "GVSC BATTERY FORUM."
