About this opportunity
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) Lakehurst, New Jersey intends to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with The Timken Company for procurement of five Advanced Arresting Gear Water Twister Mod-2 Inboard Spherical Thrust Bearings (P/N 3890AS004918-01) in support of the Aircraft Launch Recover Equipment Program, with responses due by May 29, 2026.
The Timken Company is the sole approved original equipment manufacturer for this vendor item control drawing (VICD). The bearing is source-controlled; it is not a build-to-print design and cannot be manufactured by other vendors using the drawing. Engineering determined no other vendor produces a bearing meeting all technical requirements. NAWC-AD is proceeding under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, which permits non-competitive procurement when only one source is available.
This is a notice of intent to negotiate, not a request for competitive proposals. The Government will consider all responses submitted within fifteen days of publication. A determination whether to conduct competitive procurement remains solely at Government discretion. Information received will normally be evaluated only to determine whether to open the requirement to competition.
