About this opportunity
The US Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to identify qualified businesses capable of providing acoustic equipment for tracking purposes. Specifically, the agency seeks 205 acoustic transmitters, 16 acoustic receivers, and 4 activation probes with detailed technical specifications. The market research is being conducted under NAICS code 334511 for Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing. Potential vendors must submit their technical specifications and capabilities via electronic mail to yangzhideng@usgs.gov no later than January 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM PST. Responses will be used solely for planning the government's acquisition strategy, and no compensation will be provided for preparation of submissions.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate any specific set-aside designations, meaning the opportunity is open to all responsible sources. The technical specifications require transmitters weighing 9.1-9.8g, operating at 69 kHz, with power output exceeding 147 dB, and capable of tracking fish over 500g and 1200g. Receivers must be waterproof to 700m depth, include Bluetooth connectivity, and be able to detect and store millions of tag detections. All equipment must come with a minimum one-year parts and labor warranty. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive technical requirements suggest a specialized and potentially significant procurement for marine research and tracking purposes.
