About this file

This is a technical specifications document detailing requirements for acoustic tracking equipment, including transmitters, receivers, and activation probes. The specifications cover three main components:

The requirements call for 205 acoustic transmitters weighing 9.1-9.8g that use BPSK code pulse, operate at 69 kHz ±0.5%, with power output >147 dB and temperature range of 0-40°C. The transmitters must accommodate fish sizes >500g and >1200g while maintaining a 2% tag-to-body weight ratio. Additionally, 16 acoustic receivers are required that can detect, decode and store millions of tag detections, be waterproof to 700m depth, include Bluetooth connectivity, and operate at 0-50°C. Finally, 4 activation probes are needed to enable Bluetooth connections for receiver configuration and data access. All equipment must include a minimum 1-year parts and labor warranty.

Required Acoustic Transmitter Specifications

Quantity = 205 transmitters between 9.1 and 9.8 g weight in air

The transmitters must use a binary phase shift keyed (BPSK) code pulse to achieve a unique code ID.

Transmitters must be available in physical size configurations to allow maximum battery life to be selected for a range of fish sizes while adhering to a 2% tag to body weight ratio when ordering. Fish size classes will be greater than 500g and greater than 1200g in air depending on transmitter selected for implantation.

Transmitters must operate between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Transmitters must emit a frequency within 69 kHz ± 0.5%.

Transmitters power output must be greater than 147 dB.

Transmitters must be available with an optional temperature sensor with operating range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with ± 0.5 degrees Celsius accuracy.

Required Acoustic Receiver Specifications

Quantity = 16 receivers

The receivers must detect, decode, and store millions of tag detection records to internal memory from 69 kHz binary phase-shift keyed (BPSK) acoustic signals.

Receivers must be autonomous, fully waterproof to 700m, and powered by an internal battery.

Bluetooth connection to receiver allows user to set receiver ID, clock synchronization, access to stored configuration, and viewing of real-time data feed via vendor provided software that provides a graphical user interface.

System noise, tilt, temperature, and signal strength are recorded in data file.

Programmable built in sync transmitter.

Operating temperature range of 0-50 ºC.

Parts and labor warranty of 1 year or greater.

Required Acoustic Receiver Activation Probe Specifications

Quantity = 4 probe

Allows for activation of bluetooth connection to receiver for user to set receiver ID, clock synchronization, access to stored configuration, and viewing of real-time data feed via vendor provided software that provides a graphical user interface.

Operating temperature range of 0-50 ºC.

Parts and labor warranty of 1 year or greater.
