About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document containing five Q&As related to solicitation W9132T25Q0011 for eDNA Sequencing Services for the Army Corps of Engineers' Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC-CERL).

The Q&As clarify that the work requires targeted libraries focusing on specific metabarcoding (CO1, 12S, ITS2), with expected data output of 3TB per run totaling 24TB across 8 lanes. Bioinformatics services are not required. The contractor must include shipping costs to return libraries to 2902 Newmark Drive, Champaign, IL 61822. Shipping labels can be provided but packing materials are not needed. Task 4 is specifically for troubleshooting suboptimal sequencing output results, with no additional interpretation required if sequencing results meet expectations.

Questions and Answers

Q1: From the description I cannot understand if they are requesting targeted libraries or whole genome sequencing. It says metabarcoding so they are likely targeted. Can you please find out for us and let us know?

A1: Yes, we are requesting targeted libraries, focusing on specific metabarcoding (i.e., CO1, 12S, ITS2 for example).

Q2: I would like to confirm the deliverables for Notice ID W9132T25Q0011. Could you please verify the following?

Data Output: 3 TB per run, totaling 8 lanes × 3 TB = 24 TB.

Bioinformatics Requirement: Do you require bioinformatics services as well?

A2: The data outputs are correct. We do not require bioinformatics.

Q3: The SOW states that the offer has to include shipping/materials cost for returning the libraries to them. What is the shipping destination so that we can calculate cost into the bid?

A3: 2902 Newmark Drive, Champaign, IL 61822

Q4: Are they requesting us to send them packing materials to ship to us for sequencing? We can provide a shipping label for them to send to us?

A4: We do not need packing materials but we can accept shipping labels for preferred shipping method.

Q5: Task 4 calls for data interpretation but the description is not clear on that interpretation required? It only asks for explanation IF the sequencing output is less than their expectations. Is this more to Task 4?

A5: Task 4 is specifically aimed at troubleshooting and resolving any suboptimal sequencing output results. All sequencing results should be provided for Task 3 and, if sequencing results are satisfactory, we do not need anything further.
