1.2 SCOPE OF WORK

Design and construction shall comply with the requirements contained in this Request for Proposals (RFP). The design and technical criteria contained and cited in this RFP and the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) establish minimum standards for design and construction quality. The Designers of Record shall use the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) and the requirements contained in this RFP to fully develop the technical specifications and construction drawings. The objective of this solicitation is to obtain a durable, functional system complete and adequate for assignment as a project.

The building and site drawings included in this RFP illustrate the conceptual design of the project. Site and floor plans provided shall be followed by the Design/Build Contractor to comply with the GVSC functional needs. No particular structural system is selected or recommended by the government; therefore, the structural design is the contractor's responsibility.

The Base Bid for this contract shall include the design and construction of the following two items:

Item #1 - The replacement of the damper controls for the test cell exhaust fans, along with the replacement of conduit and wire to these fans. Only two of the eight test tests to be modified are to be off line due to construction at any given time. Each Text Cell must be fully functional and Commissioned before the next Test Cell can be taken off line. The purpose of this work is to reduce cost through energy savings obtained by modifying the ventilation air flow to the Test Cells 1 through 8. The energy savings is accomplished by reducing the Winter Ventilation Load by using the existing ventilation fan exhaust damper to reduce the amount of ventilation air entering the Test Cells thus reducing the amount of steam required to heat the test cells.

SECTION 01 02 10.00 06 Page 5

Item #2 - Design, furnish and install a 150 kW Energy Storage System (ESS) interconnected with the B212 480 volt distribution system to provide emergency power to building loads and load leveling. The ESS shall be expandable to additional capacity in the future. The ESS shall to be located outside and is to be an environmentally controlled enclosure to be provided by the ESS manufacturer. The purpose of this work in to interconnected with the B212 480 volt distribution system to provide emergency power to building loads and load leveling. The existing Dynameters are currently set up to capture and reuse energy and are currently outside the scope of this project.

The B212 modifications and energy storage system shall include all necessary components for a completed and useable system including but not limited too, associated utilities, electric, HVAC,fire protection/alarm system, sidewalks, grading, and physical security requirements.

The contract also includes the following bid options:

Bid Option #1 - Construct an additional 100kW battery system for a total of 250kW system.

Bid Option #2 - Provide design for an additional 100kW battery system for a total of 250kW system.
