Attachment 03: Answers to Vendor Questions

1. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (e) calls for a new 25-Pair Cable from MH3 to Room 125. What is the approximate overall distance for this Cable? Will the cable need to be spliced in MH3, and if so, is there an existing splice case? In a new splice case is needed, what size cable will this 25-pair splice into?

A. There is a splice case and 710 module for the old 25 pr. SRM will replace the existing 25 pr. due TR moving within building. The run from MH-3 to the Demarc is approximately 280'.

2. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (e) calls for the cable to be Riser Rated, which is used for Interior Cables.

Shouldn't this cable be gel-filled and rated for Outside use (PE39 or PE89)?

A. Outside rated, gel-filled.

3. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (e) - Is there existing available conduit for this cable to be run from MH3 to the Building?

A. Conduit is available.

4. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (e) - What is the distance from where this cable enters the Building to Room 125?

If greater than 50 feet, is there existing rigid conduit available to route this cable within the Building to comply with NEC 800-50?

A. Rigid conduit in place. Run from Building Entrance to TR is approximately 135'.

5. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (g) calls for 2-pair per port. 2-Pair per port for a 50-Pair cable will only populate 25 ports of the patch panel, yet the SOW calls for a 48-Port Patch Panel. Would a 24-Port Patch panel suffice?

A. Yes, 24-port is acceptable

6. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (h) describes a Single mode fiber cable from the ITN. What is the overall distance for this fiber? Is existing conduit/inner duct available, and what type of connectors are required at each end?

A. Total distance is approximately 1775'. SC Angle polished connectors.

7. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (l) calls for us to install a Blonder tongue Amp. Are we to provide this Amp, or is it GFE? If we are to provide, please provide a Part Number to ensure that Bidders are proposing the correct item.

A. Provided by contractor: Blonder Tongue FRRA-S4S-860-43P.

8. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (m) calls for us to install two UPS. Are we to provide these UPS or are they GFE?

If we are to provide them, please provide Manufacturer and Part Number or capacity, to ensure that bidders are proposing the correct item.

A. Provided by contractor: APC SMT1500RM2U.

9. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (n) calls for us to install a Bogen AMP. Are we to provide this Amp, or is it GFE? If we are to provide, please provide a Part Number to ensure that Bidders are proposing the correct item.

A. Provided by contractor: Bogen M300 (Rack mount - 2U).

10. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (p) - Is there a Drawing available showing the Speaker locations/layout? Please provide.

A. See newly incorporated attachment 04 of the solicitation.

11. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (q) requires a 10' maintenance loop for "at least 24 cables". Why do only some of the cables require this maintenance loop? Shouldn't each horizontal cable include a 10' maintenance loop?

A. This is unique. We are asking for this because the data outlets provided were placed 18" BFC. The maintenance loop in this case will allow us to drop the data outlets to 18" AFF if needed in the future.

This was only the case where data outlets and CCTV drops were on the same wall. The SOW calls for old work boxes to be installed - this is to lower 8 outlets (32 Cat-6 drops) to 18"AFF.

12. SOW Paragraph 1.3 (r) calls for angle-polished connectors (APC) for the fiber. These are typically used for CATV or passive fiber network applications, while data applications typically utilize Ultra Physical Contact (UPC) connectors. Please confirm that APC Connections are required.

A. Angle polished fusion spliced connections are required. No mechanical splices accepted.

13. Are Floor Plans showing the Horizontal Cabling requirements and rack layout available? If so, please provide them.

A. See newly incorporated attachments 05 and 06 of the solicitation. Some minor changes to location and numbers of drops may have occurred.

14. SOW Paragraph 1.2 ("Fiber Patch Cords") - Are the Fiber patch cords required to be LC on each end?

Please provide a list of the fiber patch cord lengths and quantities that are required/desired to ensure that bidders are proposing the same materials.

A. LC Fusion spliced, Angle Polished. Patch cords can be 5'. Quantity must equal number of fiber drops = 16.

15. SOW Paragraph 1.2 ("Copper Patch Cords") - Please provide a list of the copper patch cord lengths and quantities that are required/desired to ensure that bidders are proposing the same materials.

A. Half 3', half 5' for cord lengths. Quantity should equal number of cat-6 runs = 330.

16. Does Building 216 require plenum-rated cable, or is the ceiling space suitable for riser-rated cable and fiber?

A. It is a duct return. Riser-rated cable should suffice.
