Query Title:
Answer Needed By: ASAP
We have the following questions regarding the required tile work:
1. Is the cove base surface mounted or tile flush with the top?
2. Page 9300-1 to 9300-5 spec calls for a PVC shower pan (this is not compatible with Kerdi products) but
Sheet P2.1 calls for a Schluter-Kerdi shower system?
3. Sheet P2.1 general note #3 calls for Schluter-Kerdi shower system. #7 and #8 call for Schluter trench drains
Spec calls for a 6x48 drain /Schluter is 2x46 or 50. If there is a product that large, we will need a part number.
All of this is located on the Plumbing drawings, but, is usually supplied by the tile guy…..please clarify whose Responsibility it is to provide the shower drain. There are also 4x4 drains in numerous locations, are these the plumbers responsibility?
4. Sheet A3.1 calls for 12x12 Paver tiles, which the showers are designed with single slope to be able to use large format tiles, but, the specs call out 2x2 mosaics. Which is correct?
5. Epoxy setting can be used where needed, but, Schluter does not recommend this over their products (i.e.
specifically shower floors)
Please Advise
Project Manager Response:
1. Tile cove base shall match floor tile and be mounted flush.
2. Disregard Specification for PVC shower pans. Use Schluter-Kerdi shower system as specified on drawings.
3. Use Product # KLV60E120 with perforated stainless steel top. General Contractor shall determine which subs are responsible for the drains.
4. Use 12X12 paver tiles.
5. Use Epoxy setting.
