RESPONSES TO BIDDER QUESTIONS
Date: 2-Sep-16 Project: Pedestrian Walkway Restoration Solicitation #: W912HQ-16-T-0024
1. Is the stamped concrete replacement confined only to the damaged areas adjacent to the
10x10 sections that have been selected for restoration? Only those areas that are damaged and only those damaged areas adjacent to the exposed aggregate sections that are being replaced?
Response: The stamped concrete replacement is NOT confined only to the damaged areas adjacent to the 10x10 sections that have been selected for restoration. Based on the site visit and observations the quantity identified to be replaced is minimal and should be quantified and priced with miscellaneous concrete.
2. Are all expansion joints to receive a urethane caulk joint?
Response: All expansion joints shall receive pre-molded, expansion joint filler that conforms to ASTM D1752 to include cold-applied joint sealant. Joint sealant shall be gray or stone in color. Elastomeric joint sealant, cold-applied, shall conform to ASTM C920 or ASTM D5893/D5893M.
3. When exposing the aggregate there will be some water runoff. Are we allowed to let this water to escape in the normal drainage system. This water is harmless and not contain any toxic materials so this should be okay.
Response: Water runoff is acceptable. If using a concrete surface retarder follow manufacturer instructions. Submit SDS for approval prior to product application.
4. Will compressive strength test be required for concrete used. The concrete will be ordered at
3500 psi as per spec. Are any further tests required? These pavement slabs are non-structural.
Response: Compressive strength tests WILL be required for concrete used. The samples for strength tests shall be taken in accordance with ASTM C172/C172M and shall be approved by a testing laboratory.
5. Will contractors have to provide an outdoor portable toilet?
Response: No
