About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number W912HN20Q5003 from the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Savannah. The solicitation seeks one combination auger, core, and rotary type boring and subsurface exploration drilling machine mounted on a specially designed rough terrain track carrier. The questions and answers indicate the specifications are based on the Central Mining Equipment 850XR track drill, with desired drill depths not specified since soil conditions and drill bit diameter impact drilling capabilities more than maximum depth ratings. On-board air compressors are not required.

Question and Answer #1 - W912HN20Q5003: Boring and Subsurface Exploration Track

Mounted Drill Machine

Question 1. In ordering rigs usually a customer will give us their requirements of how deep they want to drill, and if the unit has “on-board” air for actuating the hammer/bit.

Answer. We do not want an on-board air compressor. I typically don't put desired drill depths in the specifications since it is so variable. A rig that is rated to drill 800' may not be able to drill to those depths based on soil conditions and drill bit diameter thus drill torque, push force and pull back force is specified.

Question 2. Can you tell us what rig and year (manufacturer and model) this bid is designed from?

Answer. The rig specs is based on the Central Mining Equipment 850XR track drill.
